WiLAT Port Visit to CWIT

On October 8th, 2024, WiLAT members visited Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT) for an insightful visit aimed at understanding Sri Lanka's logistics operations. The event was led by Dhashma Karunaratne, Chief Commercial Officer at CWIT. With a group of 29 WiLAT EXCO members and students, participants gained valuable insights into the operations and future growth strategies of the port.

The discussions assisted to gain in depth understanding of the operations, opportunities lie ahead in making Sri Lankan logistics hub future ready.

This opportunity gave the participants not only to see the operations firsthand but also to engage with the leadership team, to understand their approach, towards making Sri Lanka ready whilst ensuring sustainability and diversity goal as held with utmost importance.

Lot was discussed about how more opportunities are created for local graduates passing out form Local universities and how knowledge sharing is happening while complementing other terminals at the port for capacity creation to become ready for more shipments that reaches Sri Lanka
